Alternate shot is also called foursomes. It involves two teams of two, with each team playing with only one ball and alternating shots until they complete the hole. One team member tees off on even-numbered holes while the other takes the tee shot on odd-numbered holes. Alternate shot can be played as both match play and stroke play. In match play, the team that completes a hole with fewer shots wins that hole. In stroke play, the team with the fewest strokes to complete a set of holes wins the game.
