- There are certain holes in a round that give players a hard time and that they absolutely hate. In Hate ‘Em, players can get rid of those holes.
- Before the round begins, each player selects three holes and writes down a par for every hole. While not necessary, a common condition is that the three selected holes be comprised of one par-3, one par-4, and one par-5. Players still play these three holes.
- When playing in an unfamiliar golf course, players tend to select the three highest-handicap holes.
